What this site is
The 4×4 Life explains the rules that shape outdoor recreation in the United States, and reports on them when they change. Most of what we publish is reference material: what a regulation actually says, which agency wrote it, why it exists, and what it means for the person standing in the field trying to comply with it.
The site launched in 2026 with a foundational library of explainers across seven subjects, and adds reporting as agencies and legislatures act. It is not a gear review site, and it does not publish buying recommendations or affiliate content.
Who publishes The 4×4 Life
The 4×4 Life is published by Leonidas Business LLC, an independently owned company based in Texas. The site is not owned by, funded by, or operated on behalf of any manufacturer, retailer, advocacy organization, or trade group.
Who writes it
Leonidas Clark is the founder and editor, and currently writes and edits everything published here — text and images alike. He is a lifelong outdoorsman, hunter and truck owner, and he is responsible for every fact published here.
Every article carries his byline. We do not publish under pseudonyms, invented personas, or an “Admin” byline, and we do not accept paid guest posts.
How we work
We report on outdoor recreation and the rules that govern it — hunting and fishing regulations, public land and access, trucks and off-road travel, firearms law and safety, and outdoor safety. Our emphasis is on what changed, who decided it, and what it means for the people it affects.
Factual claims that a reader could reasonably challenge are linked to the source they came from, and we favor primary sources: state wildlife and parks agencies, the BLM, the U.S. Forest Service, NHTSA, state legislatures, and court records. Opinion and analysis are labeled as such. Where AI tools assist with research or drafting, a person reviews, fact-checks, and takes responsibility for the result, and the article says so.
